T-Shirts on a Mission
I believe that public education is supposed to be the thing that ensures it doesn’t matter if you are black or white, rich or poor. We have public schools so that every kid can have an equal shot at life, right? If you work hard and do the right thing, you can live the American Dream. — Michelle Rhee
Acorn Factory was founded in late 2010 by Geeyung Li and Daniel Huang as a unique, self-sustainable way to support education efforts in America, particularly for those students whom we believe are underserved by the American education system. All of the t-shirts sold — 100% of the profit — go toward bringing education and opportunity to underserved students.
We knew Liberty High School would be the perfect place. These students face enormous hardships, but remain determined to seek a better future through education. Based in Houston, Liberty High School was set up to serve an underserved student populace that works during the day in order to support their families. The school offers flexible scheduling in the form of weekend and evening classes and a year-round academic calendar. We were and continue to be inspired by their dedication and are proud to support them.
2011 Scholarship Winner – Bernabela de Leon
Bernabela came to the US when she was 13 and has worked a full time job to support her mother and siblings since then. When a co-worker mentioned how Liberty High School offered a chance for her to finish high school during evening and weekend classes, Bernabela saw an opportunity to continue pursuing her dreams. After several grueling years balancing school and work, Bernabela began attending Houston Community College in 2011.
2012 Scholarship Winner – To Be Announced Soon
We’re currently accepting applications from the Liberty High School students and will be selecting a scholarship winner over the next month or two. Stay tuned!

Read our blog – we try to post on education-related topics (articles, research, current events) and we hope it’ll provide our point of view. Great societies are built upon informed (and courteous) discussion – we don’t expect everybody to hold the our views, but we usually try to present a balanced discussion (if we don’t, let us know).
Let your friends know about Acorn Factory – don’t treat it like some guilty pleasure you’re ashamed of. We’ve even made it easy by putting all the social network links up top. Facebook doesn’t just have to be something that distracts you from work.
You can even get a free shirt out of it!
Artists: Help the cause by submitting your designs. You’re effectively helping us raise more money to help more people.
Everybody Else: Vote for new designs that you’d like us to produce – it’ll help us AND your wardrobe.
You can click on the link below and donate to Acorn Factory. If you don’t like our website/philosophy or maybe Gee’s face on the front page just rubs you the wrong way (Join the Club!), find a non-profit that you like and donate your money/time! I hear there’s always a shortage of Brothers and Sisters – only big ones should apply.
Stay informed – we’ll periodically send updates to our mailing list on new t-shirt designs, new blog posts, and just general happenings at Acorn Factory. We promise we won’t spam you.
